This publication discusses needed reforms in response to a public expenditure and financial accountability (PEFA) assessment. The budget credibility of the Maldives, at the time of writing, was very weak. Other elements of budget management were reportedly very weak. This publication aims to prioritize national efforts in response to the PEFA assessment, and attempts to help the country attain sustainable budget financing. Necessary reforms and priorities are specified throughout the document.
