Towards a Level Playing Field

Public| Printed: Yes

This A level playing field is simply a situation which offers no advantage to any particular side or group or person. In terms of a national economy, it is foreseen as a situation in which all competitors are in a position of equal strength or weakness. Hence, a level playing field avoids market distortions, increases competitiveness and improves the investment climate. However, while it may not be possible to remove all the bumps and holes – and just as every related party transaction need not be bad for business as long as conflict of interest is adequately addressed - every attempt must be made to mitigate risks related to state ownership of business.
