Public Sector Leadership for Service Excellence in the Malaysian Context

This article highlights some of the major challenges confronting Malaysia as it moves a head into the turbulent future; since, Malaysian’s competitive edge at the global level depends very much on the efficiency and effectiveness of its public sector delivery system. This is why it is important for Malaysia to seek ways and means to continuously improve public sector service delivery.   It then identifies several key areas for improvement to enhance public sector performance. It also proposes several guiding principles on how to develop a high-performance workforce in the public sector to ensure it continues to contribute positively and significantly to ward s service delivery excellence, racial harmony, economic growth and nation al development.
