A comprehensive assessment of managerial accountability in the Western Balkans. This paper defines the concept of managerial accountability, and reviews the theory behind it. The status of managerial accountability in the Western Balkans is analyzed. The paper finds that despite its benefits, managerial accountability is difficult to implement in the Balkans. Pertinent suggestions for policy change are provided.
